Sheffield Business School, at Sheffield Hallam University, is looking for a talented individual to join us on our Graduate Tutor Scheme. The scheme is designed to help us develop Academics for the future, with a focus on excellence in both research and teaching. The scheme is both challenging and highly rewarding for the right individuals, offering a unique opportunity to develop an Academic career.

Based in Sheffield, you will be expected to undertake a doctoral research programme in your subject area – Operations Management and Quality Management related. Research proposals in areas such as lean management and reducing wastage, total quality management, e-supply chain management, e-business, e-commerce and e-security within sustainable organisations are encouraged. You will have to meet stretching research targets at key points in the scheme. Alongside this you will also increasingly contribute to the delivery of the Sheffield Business School taught programmes through Tutorials, Teaching and Research activities. In return we will offer you:

You will possess a 1st or 2:1 undergraduate degree at date of appointment (or academic equivalent), or significant management-level industrial experience. Whilst post-graduate study is not essential it is desirable. You must possess a strong drive and commitment to the completion of a PhD or DBA. You will have experience of undertaking research, some knowledge of the relevant subject area to which you are applying and the ability to contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

You will need to have the ability to initiate, develop and manage your own research programme therefore you will require excellent planning and organising skills. You will need excellent communication skills, specifically in terms of delivering presentations and written materials to a wide range of audiences.
