National Scholarship Program National Scholarship program are offered by many universities and are supported in part by Universities or supported wholly by private organizations. The National scholarship recognizes and encourages excellence in research in all academic disciplines to maintain high standards in the academic community. In some universities national scholarship is offered as entrance scholarships but they are generally awarded on the basis of outstanding academic performance to candidates who demonstrate ability for creativity and astute innovative tendencies. The National scholarships are also designed to encourage passion for new ideas and for the pursuit of learning.   Not only does National scholarship encourage academic prowess, National Scholarships also recognize exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities such as the arts and athletics. As matter of fact most national scholarship competitions place emphasis on a candidate's commitment to community service through ongoing contributions to school and community life.   Some national scholarship competitions are not awarded directly to the students but through school nomination. Each school thus have the sole discretion to determine the process of nominating students for the national scholarship program. The national scholarship programs are awarded to both local and international students. However, there are different eligibility for the International students. Schools nominate students to contest for all scholarships within the national scholarship category.   The decision to be granted a national scholarship can be any of the following:

• High Academic excellence
• Financial need
• Specific recognition for example community involvement or student performance in sports
