Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation Scholarships-Claudette MacKay-Lassonde Graduate Scholarship

Scholarship Description: The Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation  scholarship is awarded to a woman enrolled full-time in a graduate engineering program at the Ph.D. level of study. This scholarship is meant to encourage women to act as metors, to remain as university teachers in engineering and to recognize the contribution they bring to society through research, teaching and community involvement. Eligibility: Applicant must be a woman enrolled full-time in a Ph.D. program in Engineering Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants with permanent residence in Canada. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an accredited engineering program in Canada. Must agree to promote engineering as a career choice for young girls, and must make at least one presentation to a pre-university audience. Applicants must be able to demonstrate leadership qualities - a high grade average is not a criteria. Applicants must be professional engineers or provincially registered as engineers in training Method of Application: The application form is available from the website. The completed application should be sent to the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Regina for current U of R students. The Dean will then make the recommendation to the foundation. Founder of CEMF, she built the Foundation along with other concerned professional engineers in response to the killing of 14 women engineering students at École Polytechnique in 1989. She held degrees in chemical engineering, nuclear engineering and business and was passionate about supporting women in engineering. Her daughter Julie, also an engineer, is a CEMF Board Director.
