Research Associate: Evaluation of a new training programme for healthcare scientists in the NHS (2 posts) with opportunity to complete Masters in Educational Studies (MRes)

Part time (80%FTE) and fixed term for 2 years.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two outstanding individuals to contribute to a research project to evaluate the effectiveness of a new training programme for NHS clinical scientists. The Scientist Training Programme is a national programme, with approximately 1000 trainees working in the NHS and spread across 30 different sciences. Healthcare science is the fastest developing area of practice in the NHS and this research will make important contributions to our understanding of how the NHS can produce the best quality scientists to support excellence in patient care and scientific innovation. Post-holders will work with a supervisory team drawn from the School of Education, the Institute of Clinical Sciences, and the National School of Healthcare Science (part of Health Education England) to undertake a wide range of research activities, including participant recruitment, data collection and analysis and preparation of research findings for publication. S/he will be encouraged to register for the School of Education Masters in Educational Studies (MRes), to be undertaken in parallel with their salaried research post, for which tuition fees will be paid.

Successful applicants will have a first degree in a relevant discipline, experience of relevant research methods and excellent communication skills.
