Applications are invited for the above post based at the Centre for Biomolecular Sciences in collaboration with the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake synthesis and development of a novel class of hyperpolarized xenon-129 biosensor molecules. The sensor will be initially tested in in situ cell culture and ex vivo rodent lung studies as a new MRI contrast modality.
The work will build on recently developed instrumentation and is at the interface of physical sciences and biomedical research.
Candidates are expected to be well trained in organic synthesis and have experience with the synthesis of cryptophane cages and their functionalization. Experience with hyperpolarized noble gas MRI is desired. A completed PhD. or near completion (or equivalent) in Chemistry with a track record in organic synthesis is essential, experience with synthesis of cryptophane cages for hyperpolarized xenon-129 NMR/MRI is highly desirable.

Salary: £25,769 to £37,768 per annum, depending on skills and experience (minimum £28982 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
