The School of Engineering and Informatics invites outstanding applicants for two funded PhD scholarships, one in the Department of Engineering and Design, and one in the Department of Informatics.
Students may either propose projects of their own interest that align closely with the work in one of the research groups in the Department, or applicants may apply for one of the topic-specific projects described on the each Department’s doctoral studies web pages.

Applicants with interests that span both Departments within the School are particularly welcome.
The Scholarship normally includes a three year stipend at a standard rate (currently £14,057 per annum) and, in addition,  fees as follows: (a) for Home/EU applicants, full fees; (b) overseas applicants, a contribution of up to £12,000 towards overseas fees, depending on qualifications.

Applicants should have at least a good 2:1 bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) relevant to their area of study. Applicants wishing to submit their own proposal should discuss their research idea with a member of the School’s faculty and follow the proposal writing guidelines.
