Project description:Â A PhD Studentship is available to work on a multidisciplinary collaborative project involving three international leading research groups. The successful applicant will use state of the art experimental equipment including scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) and photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS and UPS) to investigate the surface-confined synthesis and characterisation of covalent polymers and new functional 2D materials, and the interplay between supramolecular self-assembly and charge transfer at metal-organic interfaces. A very close teamwork is programmed between the three groups with various occasions for collaboration and exchanges. Measurement campaigns at UK and overseas synchrotron facilities are anticipated.
Tax free stipend for the student is approximately £13,500/year. Â
Requirements: Applicants should have (or be about to receive) an excellent masterâs (or equivalent) degree in physics, chemistry, engineering or materials science.
