The division of Geosciences and Environmental Engineering at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering invites applications for a post doc position within Applied Geology.
Subject description
Applied Geology is concerned with geochemical studies into how the chemical elements flow or become fixed in the environment, depending on physiochemical factors, and has a particular focus on processes which prevent or decrease the environmental effects of mining.
Project description
The Post doc employment is for two years. The research will be focused on methods to reduce oxidation of sulfide-rich mining waste with focus on development of dry cover. The project is part of a larger research project.
Duties
The work will be performed in collaboration with Boliden and other industries and researchers. A large part of the work will consist of field work, interpretation, and writing scientific papers. Even some departmental duties in the form of supervision of PhD students and teaching may be included.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the position a doctoral degree in Environmental Earth Science, or equivalent is needed. Experience of geochemical fieldwork and remediation of mine waste is meritorious.
