The Katholischer Akademischer Ausländer-Dienst (KAAD) is the scholarship foundation of the German Catholic Church, dedicated to supporting postgraduate students and researchers from developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Near and Middle East, and Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
KAAD Scholarship Requirements:
Prospective candidates are expected to meet the following criteria:

Outstanding academic performance in studies and research.

A study or research focus aligned with long-term reintegration into their home region (failure to return may result in the scholarship being converted into a loan).

Active involvement in religious, social, or community activities and a willingness to engage in interfaith dialogue.
KAAD Support:
KAAD provides scholars with financial assistance, educational programs, and personal and spiritual guidance, preparing them for impactful roles in their home countries.
Eligibility Requirements for the 2025 German Catholic KAAD Scholarship
To be eligible for the KAAD International Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be from a developing or emerging country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or Latin America and currently residing there.

Hold a university degree and have professional experience from your home country.

Plan to pursue a master’s degree, PhD, or conduct post-doctoral research (2-6 months for established university lecturers) at a German university.

Be a Catholic Christian (or generally affiliated with a Christian denomination). Candidates from other religions may apply if recommended by Catholic partners and can demonstrate their commitment to interfaith dialogue.

Possess German language skills before starting the program (KAAD can offer a language course of up to 6 months in Germany).
