A 3-year PhD studentship is available in the UCL Chemistry Department to work with Prof Richard Catlow on the modelling of catalytic processes on oxide materials. The project will use state of the art modelling software to predict the mechanisms of key catalytic reactions and the effect of surface structures and properties on the catalytic performance. The project is supported by a CASE award in collaboration with Johnson Matthey and the work will liaise closely with the experimental and computational teams at JM.
The successful applicant will have a good Masters-level degree (1st or 2:1) in a relevant subject, e.g. chemistry, physics or materials science, and an interest in computational research. Experience of computer modelling is desirable but not essential as training will be provided in an active and well-resourced research group.
