AHRC Doctoral Award in Archaeology

We invite well-qualified students to apply for an AHRC BGP doctoral studentship in Archaeology (to commence September 2013). Subjects can include archaeology of human origins, and prehistoric and historic societies across Europe and the Old World, from the palaeolithic onwards. Also included are studies in human and animal osteoarchaeology, archaeological theory, landscape and environmental archaeology, and public and experimental archaeology.

The award will cover:

  • Tuition fees for a maximum of three years at the Home/EU rate.
  • Annual maintenance grant of c.£13,500, payable in equal monthly instalments, for a maximum of three years (only available to Home students).
  • Annual research allowance of £500, for a maximum of three years.

Eligibility

Applicants for this award need to have an application for PhD study at Edinburgh already underway. The successful applicant is likely to hold a UK first class honours undergraduate degree (or overseas equivalent) and to have achieved or to be on course to achieve an equivalent level of performance in a master's degree in a relevant subject. Overseas students are not eligible to apply for this award.
