This Collaborative Doctoral Award offers an exciting opportunity to pursue a fully funded PhD with a leading international centre for research in international performance with one of the worldâs foremost museums.
The project will examine the background, establishment and development of the World Theatre Season (held annually at the Royal Shakespeare Companyâs Aldwych Theatre between 1964 to 1973) and its impact on British performance culture. A key aspect of the project is assessing the influence the work had on British directors and designers and the changes it led to in scenographic practice, particularly the importance of African and Latin-American companies and practitioners in the field.
The award will commence on or around 23 September 2013.
