Climate-KIC Innovation PhD Studentship

Imperial College Business School has a global reputation for academic excellence and offers an exciting research-focused environment, access to business, policy, and academic communities, and facilities in a state-of-the-art Business School in a great location at the heart of London. The most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) places the Business School joint first for the percentage of activity assessed as world-leading or internationally excellent.

We are delighted to announce a new Climate-KIC Innovation PhD Studentship, which aims to strengthen the Innovation pillar of the Climate-KIC by clarifying and further developing its innovation model. The work will entail the development of a typology of the various projects in the pipeline and an analysis of their individual innovation models and of their respective performance in achieving the KIC missions. The successful candidate will have direct access to European and national Climate-KIC Innovation team staff and project teams for case study analysis where needed.

Launched in 2010, Climate-KIC aims to spark and deliver innovative and imaginative solutions to climate change via a dynamic alliance of European partners drawn from academia, industry and the public sector. Working across Europe, Climate-KIC organises its education, research and innovation activities around four broad themes: measuring climate change and managing its drivers, water management, low-carbon cities and zero-carbon production.

In addition to being part of the Business School’s world class Doctoral programme, Climate KIC Studentship recipients have access to: transferable skills short courses, thematic summer schools, SPARK! seminars and discussions, business coaching, Greenhouse funding, the Climate-KIC Festival and the alumni network.

The research topic for this award is 'Innovation in the context of KIC platforms' and you should provide details of your interest in this area as part of the personal statement; a full research proposal is not required as part of your application.

The award comprises of a tax free bursary of £15,500 per annum for 3 years and payment of fees at the Home/EU rate (international award holders must self-fund the difference between the International and Home/EU fee rate). Applications should be made as early as possible as funding will be allocated on a rolling basis.
