Clinical Academic Fellowship Quality Improvement (5 year funded studentship)

An exciting opportunity is available for a Clinical Academic Fellow to join a team of academics working in the area of quality improvement in healthcare.

We are keen to recruit a registered healthcare professional with vision and drive who will aspire to a career that combines research, clinical practice and education focusing on quality improvement within healthcare.

The Clinical Academic Fellow will be based at one of our campus locations in Inverness, Stirling or Stornoway. The Clinical Academic Fellow award covers tuition fees (£1,800 per year) and will additionally provide a living allowance (stipend), currently £18,300 taking the stipend to £20,100 per annum for the 5 year studentship. Overseas students are eligible to apply, but will be liable to pay the difference between home/EU fees and overseas fees. Note that the fees are subject to change annually throughout the programme of study.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to study for a PhD and gain research experience in a range of projects related to improvement science. At the same time as studying for a PhD, the opportunity will be provided to teach and complete the PG Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (or equivalent). The postholder will spend 50% of her/his time on the PhD; 25% of her/his time developing teaching expertise and 25% of her/his time in a related clinical area supported by our NHS stakeholders. The Clinical Academic Fellow will register as a part-time research student at the University for 5 years. The post will serve as the basis for a future career in Higher Education and contribute to the emerging field of improvement science.

The Clinical Academic Fellowship is expected to commence on or around the beginning of October/November 2013.
