The goal of ADEPT is to produce a virtual development environment for electric propulsion systems and to train and establish a multi-disciplinary research network. The position will be based at the Department of Engineering Science in Central Oxford. The successful candidate will be registered for PhD training while employed by the University on a Marie Curie Initial Training Network, and will be expected to conduct research in thermal analysis of electrical machines. You will gather, analyse, and present scientific data; develop algorithms and undertake computer simulations and comprehensive and systematic literature reviews. Candidates must possess a good first degree in a relevant subject with proven skills in numerical analysis using Matlab and experience in electrical machine design or thermal analysis.

Furthermore, there will be a requirement for the successful candidate to spend two months on one month long secondments.

The EC funding for this position is between €62,352 to €67,200 p.a  [approx. £47,963 – £51,692] (depending on employer deductions, personal circumstances and the exchange rate to be notified by the EC), which includes an annual living allowance and a mobility allowance (to cover the expenses associated with working in a different country).
