As part of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Councilâs (EPSRC) Doctoral Prize initiative the University of Glasgow is funding a number of two-year research fellowships. The Doctoral Prize is intended to develop the very best EPSRC supported students beyond the end of their PhD and support their transition to independent researchers.Â
Applicants are invited to propose a novel research project in an area which fits within the EPSRCâs funding remit and are expected to demonstrate independence from their PhD supervisor. (http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/Pages/default.aspx)
Prizewinners must undertake significant new research and submit at least one application for grant funding to allow continuity of employment during the tenure of the award. The University will provide Fellows with a research mentor and the opportunity to work in a world-class research and training environment.
Eligible applicants must have received fees and/or stipend support from the EPSRC during their PhD studies and must have submitted their thesis (and ideally have completed their viva). These fellowships are aimed at those who have recently completed their PhD and only applicants who pass their viva after the 1st of October 2011 will be eligible. Fellowships are expected to commence August 2013.
External students who have not carried out their PhD studies at the University of Glasgow are also encouraged to apply.
