ISER is an interdisciplinary research centre with a thriving PhD program. We are currently accepting applications from students wishing to study for a PhD (+3) or an MSc and PhD (1 +3) in any quantitative social science discipline. Prospective students are also invited to apply for one of our fully-funded studentships, available as part of Essex Universityâs ESRC Doctoral Training Centre studentships
These studentships are open to all suitably qualified applicants, regardless of nationality. ISER offers PhD supervision in the following research pathways:
Note that ISER does not participate in the University of Essex scholarship scheme.
MiSoC Studentships
The Institute for Social & Economic Research (ISER) is seeking applications for two ESRC-funded PhD studentships linked to the ESRC Centre for Microsocial Change (MiSoC). The studentships are for three years and are available to start either October 2015 or January 2016.
Both PhD projects will be part of ISERâs PhD Programme on Applied Social & Economic Research and the successful applicants will be part of the ESRC-accredited Essex Doctoral Training Centre. Each studentship is funded to include the enhanced âAQMâ annual stipend of £3,000 for maintenance and £250 for research training because both projects will involve the use of advanced quantitative methods.
Project 1 led by Prof Adeline Delavande and Project 2 by Prof Sonia Bhalotra. Details of the two projects and how to apply are described here.
Please note that the deadline for all applications (for the ESRC studentship competition or the fully funded MiSoC studentships) is 13 February 2015.
