ESRC PhD Studentships in the Social Sciences at Warwick

The ESRC Doctoral Training Centre at the University of Warwick, one of only 21 such centres in the UK, embodies the university’s commitment to producing the next generation of leaders in social science research.  Internationally renowned for its research excellence and dynamism, Warwick is now recruiting top quality social science doctoral students across a range of subjects and interdisciplinary training pathways.  Our ESRC studentships - covering fees, maintenance stipend and extensive provision and support for innovative research training – provide exceptional opportunities for high-achieving and motivated individuals, including opportunities for overseas collaboration through our international partnerships.

Awards available:  27 awards available.

Funding Details:  Fees and maintenance at RCUK level.

Length of Award: 3 or 4 year awards

Eligibility:  Full ESRC studentship support is normally available only to students who:

a)      have been ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom for the previous three years;

b)      other than citizens of European Union countries, whose residence during that period has not been wholly or mainly for the purposes of full-time education; and

c)       who have permission to reside permanently in the United Kingdom.

Fees-only awards are available to citizens of European Union countries who do not qualify under (a) above (other than those applying for Economics or for research involving Advanced Quantitative Methods). These awards cover fee payments but do not include a maintenance grant.

Students from non-UK countries inside and outside the European Union may be eligible for full support for study in Economics or Advanced Quantitative Methods.
