The School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy at Birkbeck invites applications for a fully-funded Anniversary Doctoral Scholarship in Sociology, commencing 1 October 2014. The School brings together world-leading research in humanities and the social sciences with outstanding teaching, across the following Departments:?Applied Linguistics and Communication; History, Classics and Archaeology; Geography, Environment and Development Studies; Philosophy; Politics; Psychosocial Studies. Research in Sociology is concentrated within the Departments of Psychosocial Studies and Geography, Environment and Development Studies, with some political sociology in the Department of Politics. The award will include a fee waiver (up to the value of the home/EU rate), plus an annual stipend equivalent to the standard Research Council rate inclusive of London Weighting (£15,726 in 2014-15).?The competition is primarily directed at new full-time Home/EU and International students, though applications for part-time study will also be considered.
