Project description Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a PhD studentship in the Department of Mathematics, University of Portsmouth, to start in October 2013.
The PhD studentship is in Nonlinear and Complex Systems.
Within the area of Nonlinear and Complex Systems research is currently carried out in transitions to chaos; various aspects of Hamiltonian dynamics, including phase space transitions and integrability and non-integrability; arrays of coupled oscillators; differential geometry; and stochastic dynamics. Applicants should have, or expect to shortly receive, an honours degree (at least 2.1 or equivalent) in mathematics or a closely related discipline.
Funding This studentship is open to citizens of EU countries and is for 3 years to cover tuition fees and an annual maintenance grant of £13,726 per annum.
