About the roles:
We are seeking two Graduate Teaching Assistants to join our Department of Psychology at our Cambridge campus. We are a forward-looking department with a vision that combines commitment to a strong and active research culture with excellence in learning and teaching. World-leading research underpins our teaching, and this commitment has been rewarded with an outstanding performance in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE2008) - one that makes us the UKâs top-rated psychology department in a post-1992 university.
The Graduate Teaching Assistant role is divided between that of a research student and that of a teaching assistant. These are fixed term positions for three years with an annual stipend of £15,000 pa plus a home/EU fee waiver for PhD enrolment. The posts include teaching duties on our undergraduate psychology pathways. The two research projects are:
PSY01: Understanding non-verbal communication in adults with severe and profound learning disabilities (supervisor: Dr Mick Finlay)
PSY02: The Bodily Self in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Investigating links between body perception, self-representation and empathy (supervisor: Dr Jane Aspell)
You should have a good undergraduate degree in Psychology (or a similar subject) and a thorough understanding of research methods. Knowledge of the relevant area would be an advantage, as would expertise in relevant research methods/testing and experience working with relevant populations (people with learning disabilities or clinical populations). You will need good oral presentation skills and potential or proven teaching ability. Excellent interpersonal skills and sensitivity are a requirement for both posts.Please read the additional information document which provides details about how to apply.
