  Reference: AEF034 This BPS accredited MSc programme provides Stage 1 of professional training towards Chartered Health Psychology status. What the scholarship offers:

    • teaching from the Centre for Health and Behaviour Change, the largest core-funded health psychology group in Scotland
    • a critical knowledge of the theoretical basis of health psychology in relation to government health targets
    • experience of the application of health psychology to practice/research in health care – including a short practice placement in an applied health care setting
    • relevant skills and competencies as a basis for professional training in health psychology
    • teaching from a lively and experienced team in a strongly research active psychology department
There are seven compulsory modules:
    • Perspectives in Health Psychology;
    • Applications of Health Psychology, Communication, Systems and Context;
    • Individual, Social and Cultural Differences;
    • Approaches to Illness, Disability and Coping;
    • Qualitative Analysis;
    • Quantitative Analysis;
    • and a Research Project.
The MSc programme is 12 months full-time, 24 months part-time or discontinuous (60 months maximum). Applicants must have, or be likely to obtain, a Single or Combined upper second class Honours degree in Psychology.  Graduates must have, or have applied for, British Psychological Society (BPS) Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC).
