MSc Transport Planning & the Environment (Scholarships available)

Transport is a major cause of environmental impact. Whether it is air pollution, noise, encroachment on the green belt or climate change, it is widely accepted that further expansion of transport must be balanced against the environmental cost. This programme takes a detailed look at this relationship, and equips students with both academic and vocational skills, in preparation for range of potential career paths.

Employability – jobs and careers

The transport sector continues to need people with the right skills and training. Students progress from the programme to a range of graduate-level jobs including those in consultancy, government, transport operators, not-for-profit and international agencies. ITS supports this via our close links with employers. www.its.leeds.ac.uk/courses/employability

Open Days – 15th February and 3rd May 2013

Prospective students are invited to find out more about the programme, and meet the staff and current students, by attending an Open Day www.its.leeds.ac.uk/courses/masters/openday/

Accreditation

The programme is recognised by the major professional bodies in the transport sector. It fulfills the educational requirements for membership of the Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport (CILT UK) and the Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT).    It also provides a pathway towards the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification. www.its.leeds.ac.uk/courses/masters/accreditation

Admission requirements

Applicants should have, or be expecting to achieve, a good honours degree in a relevant discipline. It is not a requirement to have studied transport at undergraduate level, but applicants must be able to demonstrate their subject interest. International students are encouraged to apply, subject to competence in English language (IETLS 6.5 or equivalent).  www.its.leeds.ac.uk/courses/masters/admissions

The programme is available for full-time study (12 months) or for part-time study (flexible attendance but typically 2-3 years duration). Shorter Postgraduate Diploma and Certificate programmes are also available. All programmes commence in September.
