Applications are invited for a 3.5 year, full-time scholarship to undertake a research project entitled âSustainability and behaviour change: Bridging the gap between research in organisational psychology and building design and deliveryâ commencing 1st October 2013.
This project, which will be funded by an EPSRC Case Award with Arup, will be supervised in the University by Dr Mark Robinson, Dr Matt Davis and Professor Chris Clegg.
The aim of the project is to translate research in organisational psychology into building design and delivery, with the specific objective of influencing human behaviour for more sustainable outcomes.
The objectives of this project are to:
â¢Develop and test a framework, set of guidelines and method which enable key stakeholders (including architects and engineers) to design buildings, systems and equipment within buildings which promote sustainable behaviours
â¢Identify key design features which promote sustainable behaviours
â¢Gather evidence of effectiveness and identify reasons for failure of previous interventions
â¢Disseminate the key findings, methods and tools, and the lessons learned.
The anticipated outputs of the project include, but are not limited to:
â¢Design principles and guidelines
â¢Design methods
â¢Lessons Learned
â¢Publications
â¢Presentations to key Government Departments including DECC, DEFRA and DCLG.
