As part of an exciting new partnership between the University of Nottingham in the UK and Virginia Tech in the US in the area of Human Factors/Ergonomics, a fully-funded (3 year) PhD studentship is available for a UK/EU/International student. The student would be based at the University of Nottingham within the Human Factors research group and would spend up to one year at Virginia Tech (either within Industrial Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Virginia Tech Transportation Institute) working on activities that directly contribute towards their PhD topic. Research groups at the two universities are internationally leading in the area of Human Factors/Ergonomics and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
Specifically, the PhD will consider research questions within one of the following domains of interest to Nottingham and Virginia Tech:
Students will normally be expected to hold a first class undergraduate or distinction MSc (or international equivalent) in Human Factors/Ergonomics, or a related subject with clear Human Factors content (e.g. Psychology, Computer Science, Industrial/Product Design, etc.). Students should also be able to demonstrate knowledge and interest in at least one of the above research domains.
The studentship will cover PhD tuition fees and a tax-free stipend for three years for UK/EU/International students. The studentship will start no later than September 2013.
