The School of Welsh invites applications for a PhD scholarship on the Irish Language (Language Planning/Sociolinguistics). This is a 3-year scholarship, funded by a grant from the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, the Republic of Ireland. The research will be in any area of Irish language planning and policy.
The person appointed will work under the supervision of Professor Diarmait Mac Giolla ChrÃost, School of Welsh, Cardiff University. The successful candidate will also teach introductory modules in the Irish language during the normal teaching semesters. Competence in the Welsh language is desirable but not essential.
All tuition fees will be paid on behalf of the successful candidate. Abursary will also be awarded as well as cover for travel expenses etc
