Applications are invited for the above PhD studentship which is a collaborative project between the University of Ulster and INRIA Bordeaux - Sud-Ouest and LabRI, University Bordeaux, France. Candidates should hold a first or upper second class honours degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Neuroscience or a cognate area. Successful candidates will enrol as of 1st October 2013, on a full-time programme of research studies lasting four years leading to the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
The PhD candidate (UK or French nationals only) will be expected to spend up to two years at INRIA Bordeaux - Sud-Ouest and LabRI, University Bordeaux, France and will have one or more co-supervisors based at INRIA along with 3 supervisors at Ulster. Given this, applicants should have, or demonstrate a plan to develop, strong English and French language skills.
The studentship will comprise fees (Home and EU) and an annual stipend of £13,726. It will be awarded for a period of up to four years subject to satisfactory progress and is tenable in the Faculty of Computing and Engineering at the Jordanstown Campus, University of Ulster.
The funding and admission to PhD are subject to DSTL Security Office vetting.
