An integrated, treatment works to tap approach to controlling and managing discolouration in drinking water distribution systemsÂ
A 3 year PhD CASE (£13,726 + £4000 per year stipend) studentship is available within the Pennine Water Group, Department of Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield in partnership with Scottish Water. This PhD will seek to take a practical and operational view of drinking water quality as it moves from treatment works, through trunk mains and distribution pipes to customer taps. This will allow, for the first time, quantification and hence delivery of a fully integrated understanding of the relative costs and benefits of discolouration management options.Â
