Applications are invited for a 3-year PhD studentship, starting in January 2014, funded by the European Research Council (Grant no. 283754) and supervised by Dr Tiago Mata, in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge. The studentship forms part of the project "Economics in the Public Sphere: USA, UK, France, Argentina and Brazil since 1945". The project research team, based in Cambridge, consists of another doctoral student and 3 postdoctoral researchers as well as Dr Mata.
PhD applicants are normally expected to hold a first class honours degree (or equivalent) from a recognised higher education institution, as well as a master's degree or similar postgraduate qualification in an area related to the history and philosophy of science or cognate disciplines. The focus of this PhD studentship will be the national case of Argentina and applicants will also need to show proficiency in both English and Spanish. In addition to pursuing individual doctoral research, the successful candidate will join in a range of activities promoting research on the themes of the project as a whole and will also take part in Departmental and other graduate student activities. The studentship pays £21,146 in the first year, increasing by annual increments in the following two years.
