Stipend of £18,000 per annum, tax-free, for three-years
HSSMI are looking to recruit a fully-funded PhD in Energy Harvesting for Mobile Devices to develop energy harvesting systems for battery-less mobile devices for manufacturing applications. These devices will be used to remotely monitor machine operations and status during high volume manufacture
Who we are
HSSMI is a joint initiative between Ford Motor Company, Loughborough University and the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). HSSMI is located in Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) site in East London (www.hssmi.org).
The Institute brings together universities, large multi-national manufacturers and their supply chain partners to create a multi-industry collaboration for the implementation of high value, high volume manufacturing systems.
What we expect
Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication and networking skills, the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines. You will have a strong passion for transferring your research into marketable results.
Ideally you have a Masterâs degree in Electronic / Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant Engineering degrees. Furthermore it is highly desirable you have experience in the following areas:
Low power analog / digital design
Embedded C for low power applications
Electronic Schematic and Layout design
Visual Studio .NET / C#
