Further details
The practice of Industrial Design is an 80-year-old profession created in the UK and USA in response to mass-production of products and creation of consumer based market places. It has also been strongly informed by more traditional craft and other forms of making and manufacture. Coventry School of Art and Design is one of the longest established Industrial Design Schools in the UK having very accomplished alumni in the industry.
The profession is going through a time of transition, strongly affected by the globalism of product design and production, and the graduation of large numbers of new designers. The future of the industry in the UK is uncertain, and its consequences must be understood for the optimum education for our Product Design students.
