Faculty of Engineering
We are looking for a motivated student to work on innovative computational electromagnetics and novel integration technologies in a project funded through the Technology Strategy Boardâs âHighly Innovative Technology Enablers for Aerospaceâ programme. The project is concerned with finding means for improving the electromagnetic resilience of systems integrated in aircraft and automotive platforms.
The work of the project will be undertaken using an existing simulation suite, based upon an unstructured TLM (UTLM) method which has been interfaced with both commericial and bespoke industrial CAD processes. Integration of all new capabilities into this suite will be an important activity.
Students should have a first class or 2:1 undergraduate degree or a Masters degree with distinction in a related area, and a proven ability in developing and deploying complex object oriented numerical computer codes (written in C++). Experience of MPI implementations and/or using Computer Aided Design tools is also preferable. Good written and verbal communication skills are also essential.
The studentship will cover PhD tuition fees and a tax-free stipend for three years (£13,726 for the 2013-14 academic year), for UK/EU students only, due to funding restrictions.
