Are you concerned about equality issues? Are you interested in research with people? Do you have the writing skills, motivation and commitment to undertake doctoral level study?
In the past decade LGBT people have successfully fought for human rights across several spheres of life and have higher expectations from public services. It is now a timely opportunity to conduct research with and among LGBT communities to understand the distinctiveness of their experiences and needs.
De Montfort University has an established reputation in research in LGBT health and social care. We are seeking to appoint a PhD student to a fees only scholarship in any area of LGBT health and social care. Suggested topic areas include:
Mental health and psychological well-being in LGBT individuals and communities;Â health inequalities and physical health concerns; long-term conditions including cancer; LGBT carers; health risk and health protective behaviours; contemporary LGBT families and communities.
However, we welcome research proposals from candidates ideally with an M level qualification in a social science discipline and/or with previous experience of conducting empirical research. A minimum criterion of a 1st or 2.1. award from an undergraduate programme is required.
