An Investigation of the Dance4 CAT programme

£15,726 per annum plus tuition fees for 3 years.

Applications are invited for this innovate PhD from candidates with Masters qualifications, or equivalent, and who have experience in the facilitation of critically informed approaches to dance training/choreography.

This PhD, jointly funded by Middlesex University and Dance4, will provide an opportunity for a candidate to work in-depth with Dance4 and Prof Vida L Midgelow. The research focuses upon the Dance4 Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) and is intended to enhance their innovative approach to dance training. This centre is part of a government initiative to support and promote the talent of gifted young people and this research will seek to evaluate and extend the current provision.

Successful candidates will have a strong dance teaching practice and excellent potential as a researcher.

The project will be based at Middlesex University and Dance4 providing a first-class environment in which to develop and challenge dance/pedagogic practice. As part of the research process draw on the networks of Dance4 as a National Dance Agency and may be selected to present their work in national and international festivals. Candidates will be expected to attend the regular CAT sessions and also contribute to the programme.

Selection will be in two phases:
1. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an initial telephone interview on the afternoon of Thursday 25th July 2013.
2. Selected candidates will then be invited to a second stage interview, including leading a workshop for members of the CAT programme, in Nottingham on Sunday Sept 15th 2013.
