PhD studentship Social Media in Professional Practice

Applications are now accepted for one full-time 3 year PhD studentship – “social media in professional practice”

The School of Education is now seeking applicants for one full-time three year PhD studentships funded by the Higher Education Academy and the University of Stirling. This will be part of an innovative research project examining social media relations – the dilemmas and the possibilities - in professional practice, with particular focus on medicine, social work, nursing and teaching, supervised by Professor Tara Fenwick. The studentship can begin on 1 November 2013 or later, ideally before 1 March 2014.

Applicants are encouraged to apply if they have excellent academic records and a background in research in education (including nursing/social work/medical education), sociology, anthropology, organisation studies, human resources development and/or digital media studies. Due to funding restrictions, applicants will hold a Master’s research degree or equivalent, and will be EU citizens.

The University of Stirling provides a full range of high quality doctoral training, and the School of Education is a member of the Scottish Doctoral Training Centre which offers further development opportunities. The PhD students will join a strong cohort of doctoral students currently supported through the Stirling School of Education and its international research network ProPEL: Professional Practice, Education and Learning. www.propel.stir.ac.uk.

The Higher Education Academy (www.heacademy.ac.uk) champions excellent learning and teaching in higher education. This national and independent organisation - funded by the four UK HE funding bodies and by subscriptions and grants – awarded five Mike Baker Doctoral Programme awards in 2013.

Application deadline is 20 September 2013.
