Details of proposed research:
What Training for What Theatre? â The role of theatre training for the 21^st C.

This project will investigate the challenges facing training for theatre in a digitised, global and post-industrial era and ask; how should training seek to re-align itself given these challenges?

The student will work within the Performing Arts Department and specifically with the theatre team, having access to leading experts in the field of theatre training.Â The project will commence in September 2013.

Standard entry criteria for applicants to PHD

A minimum of a 2:1 first degree in a relevant discipline/subject area with a minimum 60% mark in the Project element or equivalent with a minimum 60% overall module average.
In the event of a first degree classification of less than 2:1, a Masters Degree in a relevant subject area will be considered as an equivalent. The Masters must have been attained with overall marks at merit level (60%). In addition, the dissertation or equivalent element in the Masters must also have been attained with a mark at merit level (60%).

Applicants should normally hold, or be studying for, a Master's degree in Drama, Theatre or Performing Arts or a cognate discipline.Â You should also have a good first degree (BA Honours or equivalent), at first class or upper second class standard in a relevant subject. The candidate will ideally have direct experience of training processes (as a student and/or tutor) and relevant professional experience is preferred.
