AHRC Knowledge Exchange Hub Design in Action (KEHDiA) PhD Studentship: Grayâs School of Art, Robert Gordon University
Robert Gordon University, through Grayâs School of Art and the IDEAS Research Institute, is offering a PhD studentship on research design in the context of the food industry as part of the Knowledge Exchange Hub âDesign in Actionâ (KEHDIA). The studentship is fully funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), and specifically focuses on Knowledge Exchange practices as they are applied in business and other contexts and the role of design as a strategy to accelerate economic growth and the development of creative capacity.
The 3-year full time PhD studentship is fully funded, providing fees and an annual tax-free stipend of £13,726. Applicants must have a strong academic background, with a degree in a relevant area (design, or from a broad range of relevant fields), usually a Masters qualification, an interest in design and the food industry, and must be from the UK or EU. In addition, applicants should demonstrate understanding or experience in a commercial context. The successful candidate will divide their time between research and knowledge exchange activities as required by the Design in Action project and will be based at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
Design in Action is a Scotland-wide partnership between six universities committed to promoting knowledge exchange through effective collaborations with a wide range of industry partners. The aim is to apply strategic design principles to support the development of innovative products, processes and services via Chiasma workshops. The resulting design-led innovation and networked approach to collaboration aims to ensure that Scotland maximises its capacity to operate effectively, contribute to the creative economy and compete in world markets. Each academic partner hosts two PhD candidates working with a post-doctoral researcher and a senior Co-Investigator. Please see http://www.designinaction.com/.
