AHRC - Funded Studentships and College Scholarships for 2014

Awards

The University of Glasgow is part of a 12-institution consortium which has been awarded funding to support doctoral studentships and training in the Celtic Languages for the next 5 years. This will be at the annually published AHRC rates and will include an annual stipend, plus tuition fees at the Home/EU rate

College of Arts Scholarships for all Arts and Humanities subject areas

This Scholarship offers an annual stipend plus tuition fees at the Home/EU rate

Eligibility- General

  • In order to be nominated for a scholarship, applicants must hold an unconditional or conditional offer of a place on a College of Arts PhD degree programme.
  • Applicants must not be holding another full Scholarship for the 2014/15 academic session. Applicants holding a part scholarship (e.g. fees only or stipend only) may still be considered.
  • Both new and continuing students may apply.

Eligibility - AHRC Studentships

  • Home/UK/EU applicants only (due to funding restrictions).
  • In order to be nominated to the Centre for Doctoral Training in Celtic Languages for one of their studentships, applicants must hold an unconditional or conditional offer of a place on a PhD degree programme based in Celtic & Gaelic.

Eligibility - College Scholarships

  • Home/ UK/EU and overseas applicants
  • Home, EU and International students are all eligible to apply. However, in the case of International students, any tuition fee award will be limited to the Home/EU rate.

Applying

The closing date for receipt of both Admissions and Scholarship applications is Monday, 13 January 2014.

There will be an assessment and nomination process during January/February, with those applicants who will be nominated by Glasgow to the CDT competition being notified by 14th February. Thereafter nominees will need to complete a separate CDT application form, to be completed by 28th February. Further information will be available on

  • Scottish Gaelic oral tradition and oral transmission
  • Early Gaelic (Medieval Irish) literature
  • Medieval Irish and Welsh law and society
  • Linguistic, literary and religious aspects of early medieval Scotland

  • Celtic inscriptions

  • Place names
