Applications are invited for fully funded PhD studentships on fundamental and applied aspects of communication system analysis and design, to begin in September 2013.
The present research programme follows a long and successful collaboration between the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Toshiba Research Europe Ltd., Telecommunications Research Laboratory. The successful candidates will focus on one of the following research topics:
Funding This scholarship is open to UK/EU applicants and covers full UK/EU PhD tuition fees, a tax-free stipend of £15,000 p.a., bench fees, travel funds and IT equipment provided by our industrial partner Toshiba for duration of 3.5 years.
Candidate requirements Minimum of 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent) in electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics from a reputable institution
Given the broad nature of this call, candidates from many backgrounds are encouraged to apply. In general, however, successful candidates will hold first-class degrees in electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics from a reputable institution.
If the studentship is funded by an EPSRC CASE Award, candidates are required to meet the general rules for eligibility set by EPSRC.

Scholarship Details The studentships will be sponsored by the Toshiba Research Europe Ltd., Telecommunications Research Laboratory.
