We invite applications for 6 PhD studentships available in the Department of Mathematics, University of Sussex.
Supervision is available in diverse topics in the following areas:
- Calculus of variations and geometric measure theory, Dr Filippo Cagnetti.
- Theory of partial differential equations and applications to mathematical fluid mechanics (two awards), Dr Masoumeh Dashti, Dr Gabriel Koch.
- Numerical Analysis and stochastic processes with applications to financial mathematics, Dr Max Jensen.
- Numerical Analysis with applications to evolutionary differential equations, Prof Charalabos Makridakis.
- Mathematical Physics, in particular the mathematics of Quantum Systems. Prof Michael Melgaard.
Each PhD studentship includes a tax free maintenance bursary of £13726 per year, plus a waiver of UK/EU fees for 3.5 years.
These are full-time studentships and the successful candidates will be able to devote their whole time to research.
There are numerous opportunities to engage in teaching at Sussex, but this is optional and additional payment will be made.
