Several types of funding are available to outstanding applicants, including Imperial College and departmental scholarships, Marie Curie Fellowships and support from individual grants.  The ISN Group participates in numerous EU FP7, UK EPSRC and other funded research programs, with strong activity in a broad range of research domains, including Agent Technologies, Intelligent Networks, Biologically-Inspired Robotics and Assistive Technologies, Self-Organising and Complex Systems, Computer Vision, Social Networks, Machine Learning, Advanced Data Communications and Telecommunication Networks, and Applications in Energy Savings and the Smart Grid. The group is highly inter-disciplinary and collaborates with academic and industrial organisations throughout the world.

Applicants should have a first-class or good upper second MEng honours degree, or a BEng honours degree with a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or related discipline, excellent programming and mathematical skills, and a demonstrable interest in and engagement with pure and applied research.  They should be self-motivated, able to formulate and implement new ideas, and interested in collaboration and team work.
