4-year PhD studentships in Cardiovascular Epidemiology
The Department of Public Health & Primary Care at the University of Cambridge is looking for applicants with strong quantitative skills who wish to undertake a PhD programme in Cardiovascular Epidemiology, commencing in October 2014.
Successful applicants will enter the Quantitative Stream of the prestigious 4-year PhD programme in Cardiovascular Research funded by the British Heart Foundation. In the first year, the students will undertake the MPhil in Epidemiology with an 8-week research project in the third term. Successful candidates will then progress to a 3-year PhD thesis project in the area of Population Health & Genomics, linking human genetics, genomics and population health sciences to cardiovascular disease research. The programme will provide the opportunity to work with world-leading researchers from the School of Medicine, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the Institute of Public Health.
Applicants will require a 2:1 degree or higher in a related quantitative subject, such as Maths, Statistics or similar. Support includes a stipend (currently £19,919 for years one and two, £21,542 for year three and £23,298 for year four), due to funding restrictions PhD registration fees are available at UK/EU student rate, research expenses and some travel costs.
