PhD studentships are available for well-qualified candidates to develop new nanocatalysts for the clean chemical synthesis of valuable specialty chemicals and sustainable bio-fuels from October 2013.
The research projects will involve inorganic materials synthesis, surface science and organic reactions to deliver new nanotechnologies for sustainable biofuels production, and selective oxidation and hydrogenation chemistry for pharmaceuticals manufacture.
Successful applicants will join an enthusiastic team based within the Warwick Materials and Analytical Sciences Building, gaining hands-on training and expertise in advanced analytical instrumentation including XPS, XAS and high-resolution TEM. Students will have ample opportunities for travel to international research centres and synchrotron radiation facilities during their studentships, notably to Monash University (Melbourne) through the Monash-Warwick Alliance.
Candidates should possess, or be about to obtain, a 2:1 or 1st class MChem degree or equivalent in Chemistry.
