The Department of Civil and Structural Engineering at the Aalto University School of Engineering is looking for Postdoctoral Researcher (PhD) or Doctoral Student (MSc) in CFD Fire Simulation The position is for a fixed term (The expected total duration is three years. First contract will be for a period of one year, and the extension to three years is subject to meeting the performance criteria). Key Accountabilities and Qualifications The postdoctoral researcher / doctoral student will become a member of the new research team focusing on the computational methods of Fire Safety Engineering. The candidate will participate in development and maintenance of CFD-based fire simulation tools as an international collaborative effort. Specific research areas cover the numerical methods for thermal radiation, condensed phase pyrolysis, reactive boundary layers and two-phase flows. Applications are open to candidates with PhD or a masters degree from a wide range of backgrounds that are related to numerical fire simulations, such as physics, applied mathematics and mechanics, mechanical engineering and computer science. Experience in computational environments and programming is expected.
