The University of Surrey hosts a prestigious EPSRC-funded Industrial Doctorate Centre offering an EngD in Sustainability for Engineering and Energy Systems (SEES). The SEES EngD is a four-year doctorate for researchers who aspire to key leadership positions in industry. The programme is academically equivalent to a PhD, but has one major difference; the student (or âResearch Engineerâ) spends the majority of their time based with a sponsor organisation, working on their commercial research priorities. They return to the University for short courses, conferences and seminars designed to develop specialist technical knowledge and exceptional business skills.
The EngD studentship is available with Enviance Inc. in Camberley, Surrey. Enviance is the leading provider of Environmental ERP software. With more than a decade providing environmental data management and expertise,
Enviance's proven system is used by the world's largest business organisations and government agencies including Chevron Corporation, DuPont, Fujifilm and Syngenta.
This project will target organisations in the utilities sector (including energy, water and transport operations) and oil/gas sector (upstream, midstream and downstream, including exploration, refining and supply). The project will compare and contrast responses to regulation within and between these sectors. Examples of companies who may be approached to take part include BP, Chevron, Thames Water and United Utilities.
The project will address the following questions:
The Research Engineer will be based at Enviance in Camberley, Surrey.
