Rotorcraft Systems and Performance- Part-Funded MSc by Research Studentship

About the Masters degree research: Clean Sky is a seven-year, €1600M collaborative research programme funded by the EU and European industry. Partners include 86 European organisations. Clean Sky aims to investigate and demonstrate the feasibility of technologies to take major steps towards emissions reduction targets, including:

  • 50% reduction of CO2 emissions through drastic reduction of fuel consumption
  • 80% reduction of NOx emissions
  • 50% reduction of external noise
Applications are invited for a one-year, part-funded MSc by Research studentship. The successful applicant will be part of a Cranfield-based team making important contributions to the Clean Sky programme, by conducting research in the areas of rotorcraft systems and performance modelling. The research will be carried out in close collaboration with the Clean Sky partners and will include interaction with the consortium members as well as reporting progress to the consortium. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a real world research project in conjunction with some of the leading companies in aerospace engineering. Entry requirements Applicants must have (or be expecting) a First Class or a 2.1 degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Funding *The successful applicants will contribute to our Centre’s Clean Sky project deliverables, and will in return receive a maintenance bursary of up to £12,000 per year (tax-free). Students will however be liable to pay their own tuition fees, currently £6,800 per year for ‘Home Fees’ (normally EU citizens) and £16,250 per year for the rest of the world. Successful applicants will be able to start their research programme any time up to June 2015, but ideally as soon as possible. How to apply For further information, please contact Dr. Craig Lawson.
