Project: Â Outstanding graduate scientists are invited to apply for a British Heart Foundation PhD Studentship to study the influence of mechanical forces on atherosclerosis, a disease of arteries that can lead to angina, heart attack and stroke. The Studentship is focused on the role of Cezanne, an anti-inflammatory gene, in arterial responses to mechanical force. This cross-disciplinary project will involve collaborations with cardiologists, vascular scientists, molecular biologists, engineers and bioinformaticians.
The studentship includes funding for stipend, running costs and a travel fund to allow the student to present his/her findings at national and international conferences. The student will be encouraged to publish in high-quality, international journals.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants should possess a good honours degree or equivalent in biochemistry, molecular biology or a related discipline.
Funding:
Stipend starts at £19,919
