The studentship will be located within Manchester Metropolitan University, Centre for People and Performance (http://www.business.mmu.ac.uk/cpp/) in the Faculty of Business and Law.
It will offer the opportunity to undertake research into worker recruitment, retention and development in adult social care (ASC) in England. ASC is of growing importance given the UKâs ageing population, yet little is known about employment in the sector. The appointed student will conduct analyses of an ASC sector dataset, the National Minimum DatasetâSocial Care (NMDS-SC), in which care providers record details of employment conditions and employment outcomes. The student will undertake research which complements our existing analyses and the richness of the dataset provides plenty of scope for the student to do this in ways of interest to them.
Research questions could include:
Proposed supervisory team:
Professor Carol Atkinson, Director of the Centre for People and Performance
Dr Sarah Crozier, Senior Lecturer in Organisational behaviour
Further details on both can be found at: http://www.business.mmu.ac.uk/cpp/meet.php
Due to funding restrictions, only applications from those students who qualify as Home or EU will be considered.
Studentships awarded by the Faculty are for a fixed period of 3 years and cover fees (Home/EU only) and a tax-free stipend of £12,000 per year. We are interested in hearing from candidates with a relevant undergraduate degree or (preferably) masters qualification, SPSS and STATA skills are highly desirable or a clear ability to develop these skills must be shown in the application.
