This fund was established by the Black Community Fund Board of Directors to provide scholarship support to African-American students from the Greater Kansas City area seeking educational advancement through a college or university degree or accredited certificate program in areas and fields determined by the Black Community Fund Board of Directors.

The 2016/2017 scholarships will give priority to students pursuing degrees in the fields of Healthcare, Education, Youth Development, Liberal and Performing Arts or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
By accepting the scholarship, the awardee agrees to perform 16 hours of community service within the year with an organization mutually approved by the student and the Black Community Fund Board of Directors.
