This post is to support the recently funded NIHR grant for development of a human oocyte (egg) collection chamber. You will be involved in a project to validate techniques and medium used to collect and maintain human oocytes in a chamber that maintains the oocytes in a “cell friendly environment”. You will also be expected to train embryology staff in other fertility centres to use the chamber in order for clinical trials to be performed.
You will be expected to have experience in manipulation of mammalian oocytes/embryos and an excellent undergraduate degree in life sciences. There will be the possibility of self-funding a MPhil/PhD during the course of the project.
You will have excellent communication and presentation skills, and capacity for original thought. You will also possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Travel may be required within the UK to train embryologists.
